Shine On Seattle supports renewable energy for our local schools.

As part of this mission, we will be hosting a community bike ride on Sunday, October 9, 2011, to raise money that will purchase units for local schools in Seattle’s first Community Solar Project, breaking ground this fall at Jefferson Park, in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

The Shine On Seattle bike ride will:

  1. *Fund solar panels through the Seattle Community Solar Project and give the energy credits to Seattle schools.

* Create educational opportunities for local students

* Increase awareness of Seattle’s renewable energy resources

*Support construction of solar-paneled picnic shelters via the “Community Solar Project”

* Build community ties across our neighborhoods

Local schools in Queen Anne, Wallingford, Magnolia, and Ravenna will be benefiting from this initiative, and the opportunity is open to all area schools with a Seattle City Light account.
